The quote from a loved one (as best as I can remember it) was, “Jesse, when you pull yourself down, you pull down the people around you who love you.”
She was right, and while I can honestly say that I don’t do this as much as I used to it is still a struggle from time to time.

Reaching out to a friend can change their entire evening, whether you know it or not. When you want connection, ask for it. You never know when you’re not just helping yourself.

Perhaps this is an obvious point, but anyone who is recovering from something would do well to remember it. Don’t judge your progress. It isĀ your progress and it is significant and it is acceptable.

When I’m in a relationship, my partners have always appreciated my ability to remember dates and anniversaries. I mark them with special events and appropriate fanfare.
As a single guy, sometimes this tendency is less helpful.
The Library
This was the first comic that I made with the idea that would become “Life and How to Live It” in mind. The first time I consciously decided to use comics to capture something very real about my life without filtering it.
I think this also marks the first time (but not the last) that you’ll see my part on the wrong side of my head.
