When I’m drawing in a crowded bar, it’s because I want to draw, not because I’m trying to get attention for being artistic or a loner or whatever.
I recognize that she might have been completely oblivious to me, or that she might have just enjoyed not having a man bother her while she danced. But I’m pretty sure she wanted me to notice and acknowledge her.
And I was just in the right kind of mood to completely refuse to do so.
(Except of course that I just did.)

Sad music for me is a way to siphon off the little bits of excess I can’t hold on to. To release it all in small bursts of music that acknowledges that I’m not the only person who struggles with these things.
And then I make asshole jokes about it because if I can’t laugh at my darkness, it might just take me over.
And also because I’m kind of an asshole sometimes.
